Dr. Leslie A. Pal, Founding Dean of the College of Public Policy (CPP), has been appointed an Honorary Member of the South Asian Network for Public Administration (SANPA). 

Dr. Anis Ben Brik, Associate Professor and Founding Director of the Program for Social Policy Evaluation and Research (PROSPER) at the College of Public Policy (CPP), participated in a regional training course for young evaluators on August 6.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU)’s College of Science and Engineering (CSE) has contributed to an international study with important findings that may help address the challenge of increasing drug-resistance against tuberculosis (TB), which is currently the leading cause of death by an infectious disease worldwide.

The College of Public Policy at HBKU has announced a new professorship - the “Distinguished Visiting Professor of Public Value” - designed to stimulate policy impact and dialogue in Qatar. 

Each year, CPP will invite to HBKU two or three internationally renowned scholars/practitioners from different fields of policy debate in Qatar and the world. They will share their research with HBKU scholars and students, and within Education City, engage with policy professionals and public and private sector leaders, while also reaching out to the wider community. 

Maker Majlis, a platform under the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), was invited to a special award ceremony at the Embassy of Bangladesh earlier in August, to formally recognize its impact on the lives of youth, for which it won the Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award last year. 

National efforts on diabetes prevention have been boosted by a collaboration between Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), both at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), which will enable the Prediabetes Risk Score in Qatar (PRISQ) to be validated in primary care settings. 

Aiming to advance critical analysis of the intersection between energy demands, natural gas, and environmental sustainability, the College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) organized an online seminar on August 3 to examine key subjects from the new book “The Palgrave Handbook of Natural Gas and Global Energy Transitions”. 

The College of Islamic Studies (CIS), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), was represented by Alina Zaman, Research Assistant, who acted as an official delegate at the 3rd International Model Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) High School Summit in Istanbul, Turkey. Zaman was joined by two high school students from Dukhan English School, Safa Shahzad and Shakira Abdi.
