Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), has concluded its Summer Internship Program that was held from May 15 to July 7.

HBKU’s College of Science and Engineering (CSE) recently took part at EDSI 2022, the European Decision Sciences Institute annual conference held in Dublin, under the Special Session I and II - Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022^TM. 

In an accomplishment demonstrating the research excellence and global impact of Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) academic faculty, a professor at the university’s College of Law has been appointed a member of the United Nations (UN) Working Group on Business and Human Rights. 

Dr. Kim Moloney, Assistant Professor at the College of Public Policy (CPP), served as a member of the conference committee for the upcoming Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) Annual Conference. The committee reviewed paper proposals for “Track 3: Responding to a Global Imperative”.

The Language Center, part of the Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII) at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, recently presented a Spanish film screening. The event gave students an immersive experience of the language’s cultural aspects. 

When a powerful blast occurred at the Beirut port in Lebanon on 4 August 2020, social media exploded as people began sharing situational updates, videos, and images with family and friends. Some were in the form of text messages later uploaded to social media. 

The blast was among the largest non-nuclear explosions in history, killing at least 218 people, injuring over 7,000, leaving countless without homes, and destroying residential areas, hospitals, and schools.    

The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) hosted a public lecture on the future of wireless connectivity by Dr. Mohamed-Slim Alouini, Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), on June 6.
