The College of Public Policy (CPP) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) concluded the 2022 Global Design Network (GDN) Workshop with an international book launch of five law, public policy, and international affairs books published by Doha-based scholars - four with HBKU and one with Doha Institute.

The College of Islamic Studies at Hamad Bin Khalifa University recently hosted participants enrolled in the Executive Master’s in Development Policies and Practices (DPP)-MENA for the program’s Doha Module. The degree is offered in collaboration with the Geneva Graduate Institute, Switzerland, with support from the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD).

The College of Public Policy (CPP) and the Qatar Foundation (QF) Policy Hub hosted a “Special Roundtable on Global Public Policy” on September 7. The guest speaker was Dr. Diane Stone, Chair in Global Policy at the School of Transnational Governance, European University Institute, Florence, Italy, and Eminent Visiting Policy Scholar at CPP. 

Designed to develop the skills needed by aspiring interpreters in a globalized world, the Translation and Training Center (TTC) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) delivered a professional development workshop “Interpreting - Level 1” from August 28-31. 

Oxford University Press has published “Who Matters at the World Bank: Bureaucrats, Policy Change, and Public Sector Governance”, a new book authored by Dr. Kim Moloney, Assistant Professor at the College of Public Policy (CPP). 

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU)’s Maker Majlis, in partnership with Y17 Society, organized a training session for the 12 youth delegates representing Qatar at the 27th session of the Youth Assembly in New York City. 

Dr. Sultan Barakat, Professor at the College of Public Policy (CPP), directed a workshop as part of the 12th Gulf Research Meeting (GRM) held at the University of Cambridge from July 13-16, and organized by the Jeddah-based Gulf Research Center. Professor Enas S. Al-Eisa, President of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, delivered the keynote address.

In the context of climate change, population growth, and urbanization, the Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) group at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is studying how Qatar’s infrastructure and water resources are impacted by climate change and anthropogenic (human-induced) factors, and presenting effective novel mitigation and adaptation strategies. 

In a recognition of its commitment to excellence in research, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has received a major cluster grant from Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) to lead a multi-entity, interdisciplinary project on digital citizenship in the Arab region. 

Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University concluded its Summer Research Program (SRP) 2022 with an appreciation ceremony on August 18 to showcase student experiences through poster presentations.
