Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Office of the Provost received Anthology’s 2023 Catalyst Award for Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness for its innovative implementation of assessment practices across the university’s academic programs.

Dr. Ala Al-Fuqaha, Associate Provost for Teaching and Learning, and Mohja Jerbi, Instructional Design Specialist, accepted the award on behalf of HBKU. The recognition underlines the university's transformative endeavor to instill a culture of assessment and continuous improvement.

Dr. Akel Kahera, Professor, Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Islamic Studies (CIS) was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the International Network For Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism (INTBAU).

Dr. Kahera’s body of work in Islamic art, architecture, and urbanism earned him the position  along with his 20 years as a professional practitioner including international experience as designer and project manager on a multitude of projects around the world.

Dr. Kim Moloney, Assistant Professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Public Policy (CPP), has joined the Editorial Board of Public Administration Review, the premier academic journal in the field of public administration.

Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), demonstrated scientific and technical solar energy expertise at the 8th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC-8) in Milan, Italy. QEERI presented as a Gold Sponsor of the event, which is the world’s biggest platform for photovoltaic (PV) research and development.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) recently published a special issue on the Anbar 2nd International Medical Conference (AIMCO-2022). The conference, entitled “Updates in Medical and Health Sciences,” highlighted the up-to-date advancements in different medical aspects and was published in a special issue in the Journal of Emergency Medicine, Trauma and Acute Care (JEMTAC).

CPP is one of the key partners in the Rising Arab Changemaker Awards 2023, launched for the first time in the Arab region. Dr. Evren Tok, Associate Professor at the College of Islamic Studies and Adjunct Professor at CPP, represented HBKU and the college as a speaker at the launch, hosted by Lebanon’s Shabab Lab on October 28. As a key partner, CPP will be involved in evaluating the applications received from youth around the world and in other roles.

The WIPO Academy teamed up with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar (MOCI) and the Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) College of Law to offer the first joint Seminar on IP Knowledge and Skills Development in Qatar from November 2 to 3, 2022.
