CSE Digital Health Program Earns ‘Academic Institute of the Year’

CSE has been recognized with a highly prestigious accolade at the 2022 ZIMAM Digital Health Awards, winning “The Academic Institute of the Year” in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The college was chosen for demonstrating teaching and research excellence in digital health and meeting the highest standards of digital health training that responds to the continuously evolving needs of the job market.

HBKU’s Open House Engages Prospective Students in Qatar and Abroad

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) held an Online Graduate Studies Open House on November 2. Prospective students (in Qatar and worldwide) had the opportunity to take the next step towards a graduate education and learn about HBKU’s world-class academic programs. Applications for the 2023/2024 academic year are now open.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) concluded its Innovative Entrepreneurship Program’s Capacity Building Workshops with a certification ceremony on October 25 in the presence of guests from across Qatar Foundation (QF). The workshops formed part of the capacity building component of the 18-month Education City (EC) Innovative Entrepreneurship Program, which selected 15 candidates in the first round.

TII Provides Fully Inclusive Experience for World Cup Art

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), through the Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII), has partnered with Qatar National Library on its latest children’s art exhibition, “Reesha - We Welcome the World to Qatar 2022TM”. The exhibition features 32 paintings of the country’s World Cup stadiums, created by school pupils under the guidance of the Qatari artist Maryam Al Mulla.

The path to becoming a professional footballer can be both costly and time-consuming, but a collaboration between the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), sKora, and the Saudi-based King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) has resulted in a unique project that aims to make the process easier.

CHLS Hosts Student Research Forum

The College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS) organized its Annual Student Research Forum on October 3, showcasing student achievements and ongoing projects. After almost three years of challenges, the event marked a welcome chance for the CHLS community to connect and celebrate “the new generation of researchers”. CHLS invited distinguished biochemist and cancer researcher Dr. Bruce Stillman, President and Director of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, to be the guest keynote speaker.

The study analyzed thousands of tweets by social media users

Researchers at the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) have used public data from Twitter to conduct data analytics studies on vaccine-related engagement on Twitter. A total of 88,000 tweets selected from almost 1 million tweets in five different languages were included in this study. The selected tweets included more than 57,000 unique users.

In this interview, they share their analysis of what the data suggests about public opinion towards COVID-19 vaccines.
