Hamad Bin Khalifa University Signs Memorandum of Understanding with University of Nizwa in Oman

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently welcomed a delegation from the University of Nizwa, Oman, who toured its various colleges and research institutes before signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), outlining cooperation to promote research and training activities.

Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, President, HBKU and Professor Ahmed bin Khalfan Al-Rawahi, Chancellor, University of Nizwa, signed the MoU in the presence of senior representatives from both universities and Qatar Foundation (QF).


HBKU Information Sessions to Showcase Programs to Prospective Postgraduate Students

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is to host a series of information sessions for prospective students to learn more about the research-driven postgraduate programs offered by the academic institution’s five colleges.

The sessions, to be held from January 22 to February 6, will provide comprehensive details of HBKU’s graduate programs, with specific focus on curriculum, unique research opportunities and admission requirements.

HBKU Participates as Academic Partner at Functional Genomics Symposium

Doha, December 8, 2018 – Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is participating as an academic partner at Sidra Medicine’s fourth annual Functional Genomics 2018 Symposium, held under the theme of Big Data to Clinic at the Qatar National Convention Centre from December 8 - 10.

HBKU is represented through the participation of three of its science-focused entities, which are the College of Science and Engineering (CSE), College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS) and Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI).

HBKU’S College of Law and Public Policy Colloquium to Examine Dispute Resolution Between Countries

Dr. Susan L. Karamanian, dean of CLPP, will chair the event with guest speaker Peter Tzeng. Mr. Tzeng is an international lawyer based in Washington D.C. at the law firm Foley Hoag, where he exclusively advises and represents countries on matters relating to public international law and international investment law. Mr. Tzeng also previously worked at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

HBKU’s College of Islamic Studies Hosts Workshop for Madrasa Students

The College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) facilitated a Winter Intensive School from December 25-30, 2018, for participants of the Madrasa Discourses Project. The project initiative was founded and is led by Dr. Ebrahim Moosa and Dr. Mahan Mirza, faculty members at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, U.S.A. The course, open to a select number of Madrasa graduates from India and Pakistan, aims to equip future religious leaders with the tools to confidently function, debate, and contribute to Islamic thought within the contemporary global context.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently participated in the Doha Forum as a content partner, during which HBKU Press unveiled The Gulf Crisis: The View from Qatar, a book featuring 16 Education City-based scholars and experts who offer insider accounts of how the blockade has influenced Qatar’s economy, society and diplomatic relations.


UN Secretary-General Captivates Audience at HBKU

His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, delivered an insightful lecture at Hamad Bin Khalifa University on Sunday, December 16, attracting more than 375 guests, including students, faculty and diplomats. What turned out to be an engaging and very open talk was held under the headline of The Importance of Multilateralism in a Time of Unprecedented Challenges. 


Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Attends Lecture by UN Secretary-General Hosted by Hamad Bin Khalifa University

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), today attended a lecture by United Nations (UN) Secretary-General H.E. Mr. António Guterres on ‘The Importance of Multilateralism in a Time of Unprecedented Challenge’.

Hosted by Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of QF, at Education City, the event was also attended by Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of HBKU. 


HBKU to Participate in Qatar National Day Celebrations with an Array of Activities at Darb Al Saai

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) colleges and research institutes are set to host an array of activities to engage the wider community in celebrations that mark Qatar National Day on December 18. 

The activities, taking place from December 12 - 20 at the Qatar Foundation tent at Darb Al Saai, will aim to educate visitors about some of the University’s key focus areas, including science; energy and environment; computing and biomedical research; as well as the HBKU Press’ literary works.
