Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, President of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), attended the opening of the new Islamic Finance Centre at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, Kazakhstan, along with the Rector of the University, Dr. Galym Mutanov, and Vice-Chairman of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) Board, Yernur Rysmagambetov, on May 15, 2019. The inauguration of the Islamic Finance Centre took place in cooperation with HBKU, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and the AIFC.
Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently travelled to Kuwait City to meet with representatives from Kuwait University and explore its facilities, graduate programs, and future collaborations. Faisal Al-Mohannadi, senior student engagement supervisor, met with Dr. Ali Al-Namy, dean of student affairs, and Mr. Salman Al-Anzi, assistant dean for student services, at the Deanship of Student Affairs at Kuwait University. As a multidisciplinary institution, HBKU has expanded its academic offerings with the introduction of eight new academic programs across six of its colleges.
Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation, announced the official launch of eight unique graduate degrees across all six of its colleges. The multidisciplinary degrees will open for Fall 2019 admissions as of Saturday, May 18.
The initial announcement was made by Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, president of HBKU, at this year’s graduation ceremony, which witnessed 173 graduates from 43 countries conferred with HBKU degrees. This marked the fifth graduation ceremony since the university was founded in 2010.

Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and the Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) recently held an inaugural symposium in Boston, United States as part of a five-year collaborative research and training agreement.
The symposium provided a platform for experts to discuss the latest research and breakthroughs on diabetes and stem cell biology and concluded on Saturday, April 20. It enabled scientists from both institutes to present their current research findings and propose specific research areas for upcoming projects.

The College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently participated in a workshop on ‘Islamic Reform and Modernity’, held in collaboration with the Islamic University of Applied Science Rotterdam (IUR) – the only accredited Islamic university in Europe. Italian students and faculty at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently met with His Excellency Pasquale Salzano the Italian Ambassador to Qatar. The HBKU delegation received an invitation from His Excellency to discuss the university’s programs, current research being conducted, and future academic cooperation between Italy and Qatar. The HBKU delegation was led by Dr. Roberto Di Pietro from the College of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and Dr. Chiara Chiellini, Research Development Specialist, who discussed ongoing research on cybersecurity.
