The Organizing Committee of the Ninth Edition of the GCC Sports Tournament for Universities and Higher Education Institutes, headed by Dr. Maryam Bint Hamad Al-Mannai, Vice President of Student Affairs at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and Committee President of the Tournament, announced that 22 universities and educational institutes from across the GCC have confirmed their participation. The tournament is scheduled to be held from February 4 – 10, 2023.
Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) scientists and faculty made notable contributions as part of the Qatar Foundation (QF) delegation attending the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Egypt. HBKU had a presence in the Qatar Pavilion, hosted by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) in the Blue Zone.
The College of Public Policy (CPP) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) held its inaugural research conference, ‘Evaluation in the Global South: Looking to the Future’, on November 7 and 8. Featuring more than 50 speakers from over 30 countries and 16 partners, the conference sought to provide an interdisciplinary audience with cross-country learning to enable them to better understand evaluation in different nations and different sectors across the global south. Over 200 participants joined in the discussions over the two days.

The Qur’anic Botanic Garden (QBG), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), is hosting a program of entertaining and educational activities to celebrate and leverage the FIFA World Cup 2022 to promote its agenda of environmental protection and sustainable development in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
Dr. Markus Gehring of the University of Cambridge spent a week at HBKU’s College of Law, in late September 2022, to teach electricity law as part of the college’s ‘Energy Law’ course. The college has been fortunate to have Dr. Gehring in the community since 2017.
