Maker Majlis is a platform operating under the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) for youth to engage in timely topics through an Islamic lens and strengthen their ties to their faith.
It is a platform that aims to create a shared vision for the
future by reconciling Islamic principles with the modern
challenges faced by youth in Muslim communities. It is a space
where youth can express, innovate, and craft their narrative in
the areas of their interest while cementing their roots in the
Islamic faith.
Maker Majlis focuses on connection, transformative dialogue, and
synergy, through knowledge platforms including workshops,
educational programs, and events; aligning the dynamism of youth
actors and communities with the guidance of faith.
A revived Ummah with a generation of young confident Muslims grounded in their faith and passionate about contributing to the world.
To prepare, guide, and support youth by articulating frameworks rooted in Islam to help identify and acknowledge challenges to their faith, and to develop innovative solutions to deal with them.
Our foundation is built on a bedrock of the following values:
“Maker” comes from the term ‘maker space’; which describes close-knit sites for dialogue, idea generation, and innovation.
The “Majlis” is a cultural space in the Muslim world that brings together people in dialogue and exchange.
The Islamic rosette pattern inspires this design but with a modern twist. It reflects the platform's goal to address contemporary issues facing global Islamic youth communities while staying true to core Islamic teachings. The overlapping petals show the aim to connect and have meaningful discussions in the spirit of the majlis. The blue tones in the emblem symbolize life's refreshing spring water, which in divine terms is considered a source of purification and growth.
