The management of carbonate reserves worldwide will be in the spotlight during the fourth European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) Well Injectivity/Productivity and Reservoir Management In Carbonates (WIPIC) Workshop. The event will be held in Doha on March 21-23 and follows on from the very successful workshop held in November 2019, also in Doha.

The third edition of the Young Innovator Award (YIA), organized by the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, concluded on a high note with more than 600 school students from across Qatar engaged in offering resourceful solutions to the topic, “Old problems, new solutions: the next big thing for the Energy-Water-Environment nexus?”

Program administrators, managers, and policymakers are invited to sign up for an executive course taking place in February entitled Improving Programs through Performance Measurement and Management. The course is made possible via a collaboration between the College of Public Policy (CPP) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and the University of Maryland (UMD), combining the expertise and resources of two leading educational institutions.

The 2021 edition of the reputed global university rankings, Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), has listed HBKU in the top 150 rankings for Computer Science and Engineering. HBKU was ranked first in Qatar and third in the MENA region. HBKU is ranked in the same bracket as top universities such as Northwestern University, Texas A&M University (College Station), RWTH Aachen University, and Yale University. The criteria used in this ranking include research output and impact as well as the quality of staff and international collaborations.

In keeping with its aim to lead and shape the conversation about critical legal issues in Qatar, the College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) held the inaugural ‘Clinton W. Francis Lecture in Legal Professionalism’ in the presence of invited guests, students, faculty and staff on November 28.

Doha, December 14, 2021 – A cyber security team at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU)’s Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) has designed and patented a technology that not only detects current malicious phishing URLs, but can also predict those that will be malicious in the future.

Doha, December 13, 2021– The Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and the United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (UN DPPA) jointly convened a design lab, titled E-Analytics, on innovative solutions for peace from December 6 to 8. The lab brought together an unlikely group of collaborators, including UN political analysts, computer scientists, journalists, designers, and others.

Doha, December 12, 2021 – The Executive Education Center (EEC), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), is cooperating with the Qatar Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) to deliver an executive training program for 30 leaders from various Qatar-based charitable institutions.
