The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently hosted a virtual showcase of projects by its colleges and research institutes that highlighted high-impact, thematic research in artificial intelligence (AI), social progress, precision medicine, and sustainability.
Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Executive Education Center (EEC) delivered an interdisciplinary course on Combatting Human Trafficking in the USA between November 8-12. The five-day training course was organized in collaboration with the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Logan Cochrane, Associate Professor at the College of Public Policy (CPP), presented a paper on “Ethiopia and Food Security” at the Tubman Talk Series. The series is an initiative of the Harriet Tubman Institute for Research on Africa and its Diasporas at York University, Canada.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), is holding its second Virtual Graduate Studies Open House on November 22. Prospective students interested in pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree can learn more about HBKU’s academic programs, admissions requirements for the academic year 2021-2022, and student resources.
HBKU’s Executive Education Center (EEC) held an Orientation Session at the Minaretein building on October 27 for the participants of an ongoing Anti-Human Trafficking Course being held at Stanford University in California, USA. A total of 11 candidates from different Qatari government departments attended the session and registered for the training. They were given a presentation and briefing about its objectives, expected outcomes, course contents, as well as a complete schedule of program components.
The College of Science and Engineering, in collaboration with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), hosted the 8th International Conference on Behavioral and Social Computing (BESC 2021) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), from October 29-31, 2021. The conference convened industry experts, scientists, academics, and engineers to discuss a wide range of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary subjects.

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize their collaboration, as well as further enhance awareness and advocate for refugees and those forcibly displaced worldwide.
The agreement aims to enhance research and reinforce institutional capacities to promote humanitarian values through information sharing, capacity-building, and organizing joint activities throughout the academic year.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press), in partnership with Art Omi (New York), will once again sponsor one aspiring Arabic writer to participate in the HBKU Press and Art Omi: 2022 Writer’s Residency held in Ghent, New York. The call for submission begins on November 1 and runs until December 15.
