Dr. Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari’s designation and reappointment to the Executive Council highlights HBKU’s growing role in legal discourse across the continent and globally
A lecturer at Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Law has been reappointed to the Executive Council of the Asian Society of International Law (AsianSIL) and named West Asia Vice President. In his new position, Dr. Khalid Mubarak Al-Kuwari will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping AsianSIL’s vision while advancing representation in international debates.
First appointed to the Executive Council in 2023, Dr. Al-Kuwari has significantly contributed to the Society’s strategic initiatives and regional engagement. His new role as Vice-President (West Asia) further recognizes his leadership, expertise, and sustained commitment to the development of international law in Qatar, the Middle East, and beyond.
In this expanded role, Dr. Al-Kuwari will work alongside fellow Council members, scholars, and practitioners across Asia to advance regional dialogue, convene conferences, workshops, and seminars, as well as strengthening research output that bring Asian perspectives into global legal discourse.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Al-Kuwari stated: “I am honored to continue serving on the Executive Council in an expanded role. This position provides a valuable platform to foster collaboration among legal practitioners across Asia, promote the study and practice of international law, and support initiatives that highlight regional perspectives. I am grateful to AsianSIL for this appointment and to Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Law for their continued support.”
