For a second consecutive year, the College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) will be a strategic partner in the Association of Environmental Law Lecturers in Middle East and North African Universities’ (ASSELLMU) annual conference. 

A blueprint produced by Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), has been accepted as the country’s national Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy.

Earlier this year, QCRI produced a blueprint with the aim of informing and advising Qatar’s leadership on the potential opportunities and challenges relating to AI, and to propose a path forward.

A professor and associate dean at the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has been elected for a two-year term as the Chair of the Sensory Systems Technical Committee at the Circuits and Systems Society (CAS), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Dr. Amine Bermak’s  appointment builds on his prior active engagement with the world’s largest professional organization for the advancement of technology.

Encouraging Qatar’s higher education institutions (HEI) to play a more active role in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was among the issues discussed at a recent meeting hosted by Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Law.

Changes in the approach to crescent sighting provides the basis of the next public lecture by Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Islamic Studies (CIS). 

Delivered by Sheikh Salman bin Jabor Al Thani, President of the Qatar Astronomical Center, Crescent from the Perspective of Astronomy, Sharia, and Modern Science looks at how modern science and technology have influenced the traditional practice of crescent sighting. In doing so, the event will also consider changes in the perception of this sensitive subject from the standpoint of Sunnah and Shari’a. 

In line with its efforts to inform intellectual debates on Islam at home and abroad, members of the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) recently participated in the Third International Conference on the Muslim Ummah.
