Islamic-led initiatives to stimulate the development of fragile states provided the backdrop for the fifth CEOs and Islamic Finance Leaders Roundtable. Hosted on November 3 by the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), the event brought together experts, policymakers, and thought leaders to discuss efforts to help Muslim countries recover from periods of conflict and economic instability.

The College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University recently participated in the Association of Environmental Law Lecturers in Middle East and North African Universities’ annual conference in Morocco.

As part of its commitment to building key partnerships with like-minded organizations, the College of Law (CL) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently participated in the Association of Environmental Law Lecturers in Middle East and North African Universities’ (ASSELLMU) annual conference. 

Held in Settat, Morocco from November 4-5, the conference brought together leading environmental law scholars, practitioners and policymakers to discuss legal innovations and approaches to climate change impacts affecting the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) collaborates with IBM to equip its students with future-ready skills in new and emerging technologies, such as cloud, data science, analytics, blockchain, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, through IBM Skills Academy program. The IBM Skills Academy is a training and certification program that is designed to bridge the skill gap between the University and the market industry. 


HBKU presented 15 demos across its College of Science and Engineering, Qatar Computing Research Institute, and digital learning platforms.

According to United Nations’ projections, around 70% of the world’s population will live in cities by 2050. Such a rise can be expected to place enormous pressure on city infrastructure worldwide.

Big data analytics has a major role to play in alleviating this pressure and helping to make cities better places to live, and as a forward-thinking nation Qatar prides itself on keeping pace with rapid advancements in technology, and using it effectively.

One of the conference’s silver sponsors this year, HBKU’s showcase was presented with the ‘Most Innovative’ platform award because of its capacity to display impactful research projects with promising potential.

The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has entered into partnership with Microsoft to facilitate joint research projects and the optimization of the college’s educational experience.
