Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Press has released two new books in honor of Qatar National Day 2019, titled Jassem and the Pearl of Aspiration (Jassem w Danat Al Ahlam), which is available in Arabic, and One Week in Qatar, which is available in both Arabic and English. 

The concept and potential benefits of innovation engineering formed the basis of a recent lecture held by the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). 

On December 15, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) hosted the President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly for a public lecture and discussion.  

Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa 
University (HBKU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Signed during Doha Forum 2019, the agreement provides a framework for cooperation and collaboration in areas of common interest.  
  

Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and the United Nations (UN) Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (UN DPPA), recently convened UN political analysts and development advisers in Doha for a workshop on how to use new technologies for conflict prevention and peacemaking.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Qatra Social Work Club held its inaugural event on November 23. The event, led by HBKU’s College of Islamic Studies (CIS), was an opportunity for participants to engage with Richard Geary, founder of the Deaf Reach Program, which strives to systematically instill foundational changes in the education framework for deaf children in Pakistan.

Dr. Bori Mifsud, Assistant Professor at CHLS, believes inadequate vaccine coverage has led to an upsurge in measles cases.

Between November 23 and 26, faculty from Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) attended PhD Workshop China 2019 in Beijing. The annual event provides foreign universities and research institutes with opportunities to present their programs onsite and connect with top Chinese  graduates and PhD candidates who are looking to study abroad. The College of Islamic Studies, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the College of Science and Engineering represented HBKU at PhD Workshop China 2019.

It is every researcher’s dream -- a full service, highly technologized lab space in close proximity to busy workstations. Scientists are coming close to realizing this at QEERI -- one of the country’s largest university-affiliated research institutes -- providing Qatar’s government (and its agencies) with deep expertise in specialized physical and life sciences fields to support national priorities and technology development programs.
