The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) held the second webinar in its Qatari Women’s Affairs Series, focusing on “Women’s Changing Role Amid COVID-19” on March 11, 2021.
Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) has recently published a new article detailing the effectiveness and the dedication of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in Qatar on its online academic publishing platform QScience.com.
The Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII), part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), will hold its 11th International Translation Conference on March 24. Registration is open to all researchers, practitioners, and students with an interest in the field. TII has designed this year’s conference format as a series of online academic panels, keynote speeches, and a specialized webinar on interpreting.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) has recently released The Adventures of Angie series in Arabic by first-time author Hala Abu Saad, and illustrated by Ali Elzeny. This compelling new collection of books addresses difficult topics like degenerative disease, differences in ability, and depression in a compassionate and age-appropriate way for kids.
The world has been in an unprecedented state for many months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to current statistics, more than 110 million people have been infected, leading to nearly 2.5 million deaths so far.
The primary reason behind the devastating impact of COVID-19 is the high rate of infection of SARS-CoV-2 enabled by the opportunistic utilization of the widely expressed angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor in human host cells and an extended physical stability of the virus when released in the environment.
The College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) held a Virtual Graduate Studies Information Session for future students, both from Qatar and further afield, on February 16. Interested students were able to engage with Dr. Susan L. Karamanian, dean of the College of Law, and faculty members, to learn about the curriculum and research-intensive graduate programs, which all have a strong international and comparative law focus.

The College Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) held a live Virtual Graduate Studies Information Session for interested students on February 15. During an informative presentation, Dr. Mounir Hamdi, founding dean of CSE, and faculty members gave participants an overview of the multidisciplinary, research-intensive bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degrees offered by the college, which provides a wide range of programs at HBKU.

On February 7, 2021, Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) continued its series of public online webinars with Documenting Sports: A Reflection of Qatar’s History, which explored the intersection between literature and sports in Qatar and examined the burgeoning trend of documenting sports in the region through first-person narratives.
