Dr. Mustapha Aouida, research scientist and laboratory manager at the College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS), has secured a two-year cooperative agreement with ExxonMobil Qatar to support a new study in the field of industrial wastewater treatment.
Aiming to advocate globally for the urgent call to protect children, strengthen families, support women, and safeguard their well-being amid the pandemic, the Program for Social Policy Evaluation and Research (PROSPER) at the College of Public Policy, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), held a side event at the 59th Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development (CSocD) on February 11.

Faculty members and staff of the College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) welcomed prospective students at a Virtual Graduate Studies Information Session on February 8. The event was open to the public and attracted participants from Qatar, across the region, and further afield. Dr. Edward Stuenkel, founding dean of CHLS, and faculty members were on hand to present an in-depth overview of the research-intensive Master of Science and PhD programs in biomedical sciences, genomics, precision medicine, and exercise science offered by the college.
A new article titled “COVID-19 pandemic: lessons from the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Southern Africa” has been co-authored by Dr. Logan Cochrane, associate professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Public Policy (CPP), with Paul Mkandawire and Shazia Sadaf from the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many aspects of our routine daily activities have changed, especially early on during the lockdown. Now, we are adapting to the “new normal” which still involves some changes to our routine. For example, we are practicing social distancing, wearing masks has become almost universal outdoors, and there is a limit on the number of people allowed at most indoor facilities.
Dr. Damilola Olawuyi, Queen’s Counsel, a faculty member at the College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), has received the 2020 LexisNexis Innovative Teaching Award. The award was presented at a recent virtual awards ceremony following the annual Qatar Business Law Forum.
