Exclusive Statement for Graduation - Dr. Amal Al-Malki

Dr. Amal Mohammed Al Malki, Founding Dean, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, HBKU: “We are happy to graduate the classes of 2020 and 2021 this year. The new normal has imposed the need to celebrate their success online. However, this does not undermine the importance of this graduation as a milestone. Studying and graduating during a pandemic must have been one of the hardest challenges our students went through. We are extremely proud of our graduates’ perseverance and determination that have gotten them through this unpredictable year. Our graduates have shown great ambitions, have asked the right questions and have investigated the right issues, and their training and education will enable them to play a huge role in shaping the future. Our graduates will expand on and enrich their cultural and linguistic communities, and will be the best advocates and ambassadors for the areas of focus at the college, which include translation and intercultural communication; accessibility; digital humanities; and women and gender empowerment. Their graduation marks the first milestone throughout a series of important successes.”
