CPP faculty analyze the State’s education reform and development
Four faculty members from Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Public Policy (CPP) - Dr. Esmat Zaidan, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; Dr. Evren Tok, Associate Dean for Community Engagement; Dr. Asmaa Al Fadala, Assistant Professor; and Dr. Logan Cochrane, Associate Professor - have co-edited a new open access book titled The Future of Education Policy in the State of Qatar (Springer). The edited volume brings together 45 contributing authors from at least 12 countries, offering 25 chapters across 514 pages of in-depth analysis and diverse perspectives.
Drawing on multidisciplinary perspectives, the book addresses the socio-political and cultural challenges facing Qatar’s education ecosystem, including the tension between internationalization and localization and the need for more inclusive education systems. It places particular emphasis on early childhood education and policies that support learners of diverse abilities.
Highlighting the significance of the book’s insights, Dr. Zaidan said: “Education continues to hold a special status as a priority for the State of Qatar, thus making it crucial that we continue to foster dialogue on the future of its educational policies. This collaboration demonstrates how CPP’s faculty leverage its collective academic expertise to contribute to effective policy development that supports the country’s national development goals.”
The volume also considers how policy interventions in Qatar relate to wider regional reform efforts, analyzing the structural barriers that can impede progress and identifying key priorities for future innovation. Through its policy-focused lens, the book encourages the development of more adaptive and cutting-edge approaches to education across the Gulf region.
Available freely through Springer’s Open Access platform, The Future of Education Policy in the State of Qatar will be a valuable resource for students, researchers, and practitioners in public policy, education, and development studies.
