The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is to host H.E the Minister of State Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari who will deliver opening remarks on the impact of intercultural communication on linguistics and diplomacy. This session coincides with the launch of the newest MA program in Intercultural Communication (MAICC), delivered by the college's Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII).

The program provides a deep understanding of the challenges posed by changing intercultural settings in Qatar and across the wider world. The MAICC will offer a curriculum that is designed to give an answer to the changing career prospects of CHSS graduates: evolving intercultural settings in Qatar, increased desire to achieve inclusive growth and wealth in the region and beyond, and the use of digital technologies in an inclusive society focusing on accessibility of all social groups.

An information session will follow Dr. Al-Kuwari’s opening remarks where prospective students and the public can learn more about the innovative graduate programs offered by CHSS. Faculty members will be available to answer questions regarding course content, research opportunities and admission requirements. Current students will also offer their perspectives on the program and overall learning experience.

Speaking ahead of the event,  Dr. Amal Mohammed Al-Malki, founding dean of CHSS , said:
“We are delighted to have H.E. Dr. Al-Kuwari open this information session, and to launch our newest MA in Intercultural Communication. His Excellency best understands the importance of offering a degree in this field. We’re confident that this program will not only inspire students, but also reinforce CHSS’ mission to nurture academically grounded and socially responsible global citizens.”

The information session will take place from 4 pm to 6 pm on Sunday November 17 at Ballroom 1, Multaqa (Education City Student Center). The event will be held in English and Arabic.
