Dr. Logan Cochrane, Associate Professor at the College of Public Policy (CPP), has co-authored a chapter titled “Participatory digital mapping as a research method” in a new book highlighting the impact of contemporary approaches to participatory research and enquiry.

The College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) continued its International Economic Law Seminar (IELS) Series with a colloquium exploring the relationship between international law, the law of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and taxation policy in view of ongoing global tax reforms.

Dr. Anis Ben Brik, Associate Professor at the College of Public Policy (CPP) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and founding director of the Program for Social Policy Evaluation and Research (PROSPER), will participate in the 2021 National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) Annual Conference. Taking place between October 27 and November 2, the virtual event will bring together academics, students and practitioners with an interest in family science and related topics.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is participating as a main partner at the Global Security Forum (GSF) 2021. To highlight the partnership, Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, president of HBKU, jointly delivered the opening remarks at the GSF 2021, with Michael G. Masters, chairman of the board at The Soufan Center. GSF 2021 is organized by The Soufan Center in collaboration with several organizations. 

For the fifth consecutive year, Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) is participating in the 2021 edition of world’s largest book fair, Frankfurter Buchmesse (Frankfurt International Book Fair) from October 20 – 24.

The Corrosion Center at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, co-organized and participated in its first Oil and Gas Corrosion Symposium. The symposium’s co-organizers included the corrosion team at the University of Manchester; Curtin Corrosion Centre at Curtin University; the Institute for Corrosion and Multiphase Technology at Ohio University; and the Institute of Functional Surfaces at the University of Leeds. 

Two prominent scientists from Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and Qatar University College of Medicine presented the 14th International Symposium on the Maillard Reaction (IMARS-14), in a virtual 3D format from September 20-24, with the support of Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF).

The latest issue of Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press’ (HBKU Press) journal on QScience.com devoted to public health research, Avicenna, explores the various challenges and opportunities arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and is now available to readers around the world.

Second year students in the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program at the College of Public Policy (CPP) attended a guest lecture by Dr. Mehran Kamrava, director of the Center for International and Regional Studies at Georgetown University Qatar, on September 13.
