HBKU College of Islamic Studies Faculty Member Participates at World Halal Summit

A faculty member from the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently participated at this year’s World Halal Summit, in Istanbul. The summit is one of the largest halal events that gather leading experts from around the world and discuss current issues in the halal sector. Dr. Dalal Aassouli, assistant professor and program coordinator of the MSc in Islamic Finance program, gave a presentation on efforts to embed sustainability into the Islamic financial industry.

HBKU’s Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute Conference Tackles Desert Climate Challenges

His Excellency Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, President of Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation "KAHRAMAA", and Vice Chair, Board of Trustees, Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) participated in the opening day of the International Conference on Sustainable Energy Water and Environment Nexus in Desert Climates 2019 (ICSEWEN’19). ICSEWEN’19 is the flagship conference of Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, part of HBKU. The conference is held at the Qatar National Convention Centre until December 5, 2019.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s Graduate Studies Open House signals the beginning of the institution’s admissions cycle.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) held its annual Graduate Studies Open House on November 27 – the university’s largest student recruitment drive event that  provides key information regarding the 2019-2020 academic year.


Dr. Ahmed Elmagarmid, executive director of the Qatar Computing Research Institute, part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, at the conference.

Qatar’s growing technological prowess was on display at the 1st International Conference on Visualization and Computer-Human Interaction (VisCHI). Organized by Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) and the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), the event gathered experts and users of scientific and data visualization as well as computer-human interaction technologies.
