Dr. Leslie A. Pal, founding dean at the College of Public Policy (CPP), was part of a site visit team in Dubai recently to review the bid submitted by the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) to hold the sixth International Conference on Public Policy (ICPP) in 2023. Dr. Pal serves as the vice-president of the International Public Policy Association (IPPA), the sponsor of ICPP, and joined Dr. Grace Skogstad, president, IPPA, Dr. Marleen Brans, treasurer, and Dr.
Associate professor at Qatar’s Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Public Policy (CPP), Dr. Logan Cochrane, has been appointed by the United Nations as a member of the newly constituted Knowledge Network of African Experts.
The network comes under the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA), and Dr. Cochrane is currently leading a sub-group focusing on food security who are preparing a policy brief as a contribution to the forthcoming UN Summit on famine prevention.
Hamad International Airport (HIA) has announced a joint research partnership with Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Science and Engineering (CSE) to enhance passenger services. This first-of-its-kind research partnership in Qatar will utilize the Visual Analytics and Dynamic Graph research techniques and identify ways to enhance the passenger airport experience.

Giving youth the opportunity to learn from the country’s brightest change-makers, the Qatar Youth Power (QYP) Conference took place virtually from June 10-11, in partnership with Maker Majlis - a platform under the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). The country’s first and only student-initiated conference aimed to develop, connect, and empower the youth of Qatar to positively impact their communities.

The Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and the Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C) of The Cyprus Institute (CyI), have signed a collaboration agreement to estimate and predict contamination risks and associated impacts from the atmospheric dispersion of radionuclides accidentally released by a major industrial facility in the Middle East.
