Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by social interaction deficits, language difficulties, and restricted, repetitive behavior. ASD affects approximately 1% of the global population and the prevalence of ASD in Qatar is 1.14% (one in every 87 children), leading to the significant public health and financial burden and stress on families. Early diagnosis of ASD is the key to help the children affected effectively improve their language ability and social interaction. In addition, early intervention through medication and behavioral therapy can eliminate some of the related symptoms and significantly improve the life quality of individuals with ASD.
Join our expert guests, who will discuss the disorder and how it affects individuals from childhood to adulthood, in addition to providing participants with strategies on how to be helpful instead of hurtful when supporting challenging behavior. This webinar will also discuss the latest in ASD research and prevalence in Qatar.
