CPP Professor Speaks at Doha Institute’s Symposium on the Post-Pandemic Recovery of Education

Dr. Logan Cochrane, Associate Professor at the College of Public Policy (CPP), spoke at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies’ symposium ‘Teachers at the Heart of Education Recovery’ in October. He explored the topic “Whose Voice Matters in Teaching and Learning? Implications for Policy”.

Dr. Cochrane discussed knowledge production systems that privilege Euro-Western voices and perspectives in International Political Economy (IPE) curricula, furthering a process of systemic, cognitive, and epistemic injustices. Building on an analysis of teaching and learning content, his session reflected critically on the implications of IPE curricula in relation to policy. By focusing on avenues for policy engagement to avoid the same processes that lead to privilege and marginalization, Dr. Cochrane highlighted pathways to better situate policy-making and avoid repeating failures that have resulted from identified entrenched biases.

Other symposium sessions were presented by Dr. Francisco Marmolejo, President, Higher Education at Qatar Foundation, who addressed the teaching and learning experience in a post-pandemic world, as well as speakers from Lusail University, the University of South Australia, and Bluefield State College, West Virginia, USA.
