The five-member panel discussed the policy challenges facing Iran’s government

The five-member panel discussed ongoing policy research in Iran as well as various policy challenges facing the country’s government.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Public Policy (CPP) and Governance and Policy Think Tank (GPTT), a university think tank affiliated with Sharif University of Technology, organized a special panel discussion on February 6, 2023, titled “An Overview of Iranian Policies from Inside.”

Moderated by Dr. Ozcan Ozturk, Assistant Professor, CPP, the panel featured Tehran-based scholars Dr. Seyed Emamian, Co-Founder of GPTT, and Morteza Zamanian, Assistant Professor of Economics at Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic).

Dr. Hassan Hakimian, Professor and Director of the Middle Eastern Studies Department at HBKU’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Dr. Mohamed Eskandar Shah, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at HBKU’s College of Islamic Studies, rounded out the panel.

Dr. Emamian and Zamanian both shared their research on subsidy programs and digital regulation in Iran, before joining the rest of the panel in reflecting on the current policy challenges facing the country’s government.
