Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has released the fifth edition of Astrolabe: A CIS Student Research Journal, an open-access compilation of exceptional academic papers produced by the College’s graduate students.

What inspired you to pursue postgraduate studies with HBKU? 

As part of its ongoing Dean’s Foresight Talks series, Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Islamic Studies (CIS) hosted Dr. Erik Ringmar, Professor, Ibn Haldun University, for a lecture entitled: “Between Religious Beliefs and Practices: The Flaws of European Human Rights Legislation.” 

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Public Policy (CPP) partnered with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and Institute of Local Government Studies at the University of Birmingham, to host the one-day symposium “Public Policy in Qatar and the Gulf: Confronting Fast Paced and Complex Challenges.”

In response to the Gaza war and the attack on Palestinians, on December 29, 2023, South Africa filed an application for provisional measures against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague. South Africa alleged that Israel was engaged in a genocide against the Palestinians in violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. The application sought an order of provisional measures that Israel cease military activity as well as other relief.  

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Public Policy (CPP) welcomed Dr. Melani Cammett, Clarence Dillon Professor of International Affairs, Harvard University, as its Spring 2024 Eminent Visiting Policy Scholar.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Public Policy (CPP) has presented twelve students with Pi Alpha Alpha (PAA) honor certificates. To be honored by PAA, students must have a grade point average (GPA)of 3.67 (out of 4) or higher after one-half of their degree credits have been completed.
