Hamad Bin Khalifa University Signs Memorandum of Understanding with University of Nizwa in Oman

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently welcomed a delegation from the University of Nizwa, Oman, who toured its various colleges and research institutes before signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), outlining cooperation to promote research and training activities.

Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, President, HBKU and Professor Ahmed bin Khalfan Al-Rawahi, Chancellor, University of Nizwa, signed the MoU in the presence of senior representatives from both universities and Qatar Foundation (QF).


HBKU Information Sessions to Showcase Programs to Prospective Postgraduate Students

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is to host a series of information sessions for prospective students to learn more about the research-driven postgraduate programs offered by the academic institution’s five colleges.

The sessions, to be held from January 22 to February 6, will provide comprehensive details of HBKU’s graduate programs, with specific focus on curriculum, unique research opportunities and admission requirements.

The College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently hosted a Molecular and Cell Biology Laboratory Skills workshop for university students in Qatar. The workshop is the latest in a series of initiatives undertaken by the college to advance students’ knowledge in the biomedical field.

 HBKU’s Translation and Interpreting Institute Offers Intensive Workshop for Hospitality Professionals

The Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII), part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), is to host an Accessible Hospitality and Events workshop from January 6 - 9, 2019. 

Dr. Josélia Neves, a professor at TII, CHSS, who teaches the Masters in Audiovisual Translation program, will lead the workshop, which aims to introduce participants to the requirements of making a hospitality venue universally accessible through a holistic communicative approach.

His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, delivered an insightful lecture at Hamad Bin Khalifa University on Sunday, December 16, attracting more than 375 guests, including students, faculty and diplomats. What turned out to be an engaging and very open talk was held under the headline of The Importance of Multilateralism in a Time of Unprecedented Challenges.

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), today attended a lecture by United Nations (UN) Secretary-General H.E. Mr. António Guterres on ‘The Importance of Multilateralism in a Time of Unprecedented Challenge’.

Hosted by Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of QF, at Education City, the event was also attended by Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of HBKU.

QEERI Showcases Sustainability Research at COP24

Three senior representatives from Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), part of Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), were members of the Qatari delegation at the 24th Conference of the Parties (COP24) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) recently held in Katowice, Poland. Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Islamic Studies (CIS) recently held a public lecture entitled Circular Economy: Aspirations, Realities and Opportunities to discuss the multidimensional approach of Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV2030) to support the transformation from linear to circular economies. Dr. Tariqullah Khan, professor and coordinator of the PhD program in Islamic Finance and Economy offered at CIS, highlighted the new perspective on resource management and opportunities for entrepreneurship within QNV2030.

Noted Speakers Attend CLPP’s Latest Symposium

The College of Law and Public Policy (CLPP), in collaboration with the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) and Queen Mary University London School of Law, hosted the world’s first conference on hybrid courts. It was supported by Qatar National Research Fund, White & Case, Doha and 3VB (3 Verulam Buildings/Gray’s Inn, London). The conference studied the idea behind the establishment of these courts and investigated the relationship between hybrid courts and more established forms of dispute resolution, such as ordinary courts and arbitral tribunals.
