Panelists discussing the future of large-scale sports event management

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) partnered with Qatar University (QU) to host a panel discussion titled “Looking Back, Moving Ahead - The New Era for the Sport Industry in Qatar and Beyond” on September 14. The event took place at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, with the participation of international and local guests, representing academia and several major sports organizations in Qatar.

The College of Public Policy (CPP) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) hosted a lecture that highlighted the roles and functions of higher education institutions (HEIs) in diplomatic processes. 

The speakers included Dr. Leslie A. Pal, Founding Dean of CPP; Dr. Diane Stone, Chair of Global Policy at the School of Transnational Governance, part of the European University Institute; and Dr. Vicky Kynourgiopoulou, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Georgetown University in Qatar.

The college of law held the guest lecture on September 7

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU)’s College of Law hosted a guest lecture on September 7 that examined the international sanctions regime as a central governance mechanism for maintaining international peace and security. 

Titled “International Sanctions: Overused and Underutilized,” the lecture was delivered by Dr. Thomas J. Biersteker, Gasteyger Professor Honoraire, Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, who has done extensive work on international sanctions.

HBKU, QF Present Research Agreements Workshop

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) recently organized a workshop for HBKU researchers and faculty examining the key aspects of research agreements. 

With 60+ attendees from HBKU colleges and research institutes, the workshop brought together speakers from HBKU College of Law, Qatar Foundation (QF) Legal and OVPR, who shared legal insights with practical applications, to emphasize the importance of having a well-drafted research agreement.

Promoting individual, professional, and community development across the region, the Translation and Training Center (TTC) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) will begin a new cycle of its specialized translation and interpreting workshops.
