Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and the Imagine Institute of Genetic Diseases (IIGD), a Paris-based research institute focused on genetic diseases, today signed an education and research collaboration agreement that is set to advance the future of medicine.
Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, President of HBKU, and Dr. Stanislas Lyonnet, Director of IIGD, signed the agreement at the Amiri Diwan in the presence of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar and Minister of Interior, and HE Mr. Edouard Philippe, Prime Minister of France.

HBKU College of Health and Life Sciences and Equine Veterinary Medical Center Sign MoU
The College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC), which will see the two entities collaborate in areas of research and graduate education.
Dr. Edward Stuenkel, founding dean of CHLS, and Dr. Jessica Johnson, acting director of EVMC, signed the MoU. The agreement aims to extend the productive interactions and research of health and life sciences, enhance biomedical research expertise and expand veterinary competencies.

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation (QF), attended the opening ceremony of the Renaissance Questions international conference, hosted by the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), which was held from February 2 to 4 in Education City.
The conference marked the 70th anniversary of the publication of 'The Conditions of the Renaissance,' written by the revered Algerian author and philosopher Malek Bennabi, whose work has inspired countless leaders and scholars.
Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, President of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), recently met with Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office, at the UN Headquarters in New York, to discuss the imperative role of education in countering extremism and nurturing tolerance, empathy, and understanding. Dr. Hasnah and Mr. Voronkov discussed the potential of collaborations between higher education institutes and international bodies to create sustainable solutions to address challenges facing displaced people in the wake of growing conflict.
Globally renowned computing expert and IBM Fellow, Dr. C. Mohan, is to visit Qatar to deliver a lecture, “State of Public and Private Blockchains: Myths and Reality,” later this month.
His visit will form part of a blockchain workshop hosted by Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University.
For decades, Dr. Mohan has been a major influencer in the field of computer science. He is a well-known inventor of ARIES, a database of algorithms, and a distributed commit protocol called Presumed Abort.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) recently welcomed a delegation from the University of Nizwa, Oman, who toured its various colleges and research institutes before signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), outlining cooperation to promote research and training activities.
Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, President, HBKU and Professor Ahmed bin Khalfan Al-Rawahi, Chancellor, University of Nizwa, signed the MoU in the presence of senior representatives from both universities and Qatar Foundation (QF).
Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is to host a series of information sessions for prospective students to learn more about the research-driven postgraduate programs offered by the academic institution’s five colleges.
The sessions, to be held from January 22 to February 6, will provide comprehensive details of HBKU’s graduate programs, with specific focus on curriculum, unique research opportunities and admission requirements.
Two professors from the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), recently travelled to Kerala, India, where they delivered a series of lectures on Contemporary Fiqh and Comparative Religions to undergraduate and graduate students at Al Jamia Al Islamiya, an Islamic university in the Indian state, from January 1 - 7, 2019.
