Haitham Abu-Rub is a Professor at the College of Science and Engineering. He received two PhDs, one in Electrical Engineering from Gdansk University of Technology, Poland, in 1995, and another in Humanities from Gdansk University, Poland, in 2004.

Abu-Rub has research and teaching experience at many universities in several countries, including Qatar, Poland, Palestine, USA, and Germany. He served for five years as the Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar and for ten years as the Managing Director of the Smart Grid Center at the same university.

Abu-Rub is the recipient of many national and international awards and recognitions, including the Fulbright and Alexander von Humboldt scholarships. His research group includes many PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.

Abu-Rub has published over 600 journal and conference papers, three patents, eight books, and eight book chapters. He has offered numerous keynote speeches at many conferences, training courses for industry engineers, and special courses for students.

Abu-Rub is a Fellow of IEEE and Co-Editor in Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics.

Amna Zaman is an S.J.D. candidate and doctoral research fellow at the College of Law. Her dissertation focuses on the regulation of cross-border data flows (CBDFs) as an industrial strategy and its impact on international economic governance. Hamoudah Al-Zaini is an S.J.D. candidate at the College of Law. His dissertation examines the impact of digital products on international trade law, arguing that the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) is inadequate due to its outdated classification system. His research explores the technological neutrality of GATS, the feasibility of its application to digital products, and recent efforts by the WTO and other international bodies to modernize trade regulations for the digital economy.

Dr. Abdallah Alhaj Sulaiman is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Translational Oncology Research Center at Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), working in Dr. Vladimir Katanaev’s group. He earned his PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar, where he studied chromatin remodeling and stress response signaling.

He holds an MSc from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon, where he was among the first to report the presence of the colistin resistance gene mcr-1 in water sources in the country. He also earned a Bachelor of Science from Mansoura University, Egypt. His research revealed a novel role for the histone H2B Arg95 residue in recruiting the transcription factor Spt16 to regulate rapamycin-induced cell cycle arrest.

Dr. Alhaj Sulaiman served as a consultant at HBKU’s College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS), contributing to projects involving CRISPR-based bacterial detection and studying GLUT3 regulation in PRDX1-null cells and its role in arsenite sensitivity. He was awarded first place by jury in Season 15 of Stars of Science.
