This workshop will help participants develop the skills required to become effective translators in a wide range of disciplines including general, legal, and business translation. 

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Enabling trainees to apply the conceptual knowledge they have in real life practice
  2. Exposing trainees to various professional translation assignments with texts of different modes and genres
  3. Examining the challenges posed to translators in their daily work and enabling trainees to take justifiable decisions when dealing with such challenges
  4. Focusing on specific aspects of Arabic as a target language in translation and helping trainees gain an understanding as to how Arabic differs linguistically and stylistically from English
  5. Enabling trainees to criticize translated texts and defend their own choices in group discussions.
  6. Equipping participants with fairly advanced translation techniques
  7. Guiding participants through the application of the necessary search tools
  8. Exchanging experiences and discussing concerns with a view to improving translation skills in a professional setting

Through guided, practical group work sessions, participants will be able to upgrade their translation competence and quality control skills in a professional setting.
