Biography

Dr. Fella Lahmar is an Assistant Professor of Education at the College of Islamic Studies and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. Her expertise lies in comparative education, Islamic education, decolonial methodologies, and identity formation. She holds a PhD in Education and an MA in Educational Research Methods from the University of Nottingham, where she examined diversity in British Muslim schools. She also earned an MA in Islamic Studies from Loughborough University and a BA in Quran and Sunnah Sciences from Emir Abdelkader Islamic University, Algeria.

Her professional development at the University of Oxford, The Open University UK, and Birmingham Newman University focused on training in digital pedagogies, online learning, and emerging technologies in education.

Dr. Lahmar has held academic and research positions at The Open University, the University of Nottingham, and the University of Bolton. At The Open University UK, she contributed to the Decolonising Education for Peace in Africa (DEPA) project, focusing on Algeria’s artistic heritage as a medium for fostering reconciliation and mutual understanding across diverse communities.

Her research interrogates knowledge production, ethical reasoning, and the ontological foundations of education, while exploring alternative frameworks that emphasize relationality, wisdom, and holistic development.
