Hamad Bin Khalifa University

Why did you choose Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and this particular degree program?

There were several reasons why I was drawn to HBKU. I’m passionate about environmental issues and believed that the College of Science and Engineering’s (CSE) Sustainable Environment program would provide me with the necessary tools and knowledge to create meaningful change in this field.

Research opportunities at HBKU are both extensive and impressive. The university has a strong focus on research, so I was excited by the prospect of contributing to groundbreaking activities in the field of sustainability. I was particularly impressed by the fact that HBKU has several research facilities where students can work with and receive guidance from expert scientists and faculty. This was a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and gain practical experience that would prepare me for a career in sustainable environment.

The high profile and reputation that HBKU enjoys was another reason why I was drawn to the program. The expertise and knowledge of faculty members provided me with valuable insights and guidance throughout my academic journey. Their research interests aligned with my own, and I was able to learn a great deal from them.

Finally, HBKU’s campus culture was something that really resonated with me. Being based at Education City and in close proximity to other universities offered a unique opportunity to experience a range of perspectives. The cultural diversity on campus was something that I found particularly appealing and enhanced my overall learning experience.

How has your time at HBKU influenced your future plans?

My time at HBKU has been incredibly influential in shaping my future plans. Studying here has deepened my passion for research and inspired me to pursue a career as a researcher. Throughout my time at HBKU, I had the opportunity to work alongside faculty members and industry experts on several projects. These experiences were instrumental in developing my research skills and provided me with valuable insights into research methodologies and processes. As I progressed through the Sustainable Environment program, I found myself becoming increasingly interested in research and its potential to create meaningful change in the field of sustainability.

What was the highlight of your time at HBKU?

There were so many highlights that it's difficult to choose just one! However, if I had to pick, I would say the opportunity to conduct research alongside faculty members, industry experts, and fellow students, as well as participating in international conferences. The latter included the European Symposium on Computer-Aided Process Engineering. Every research project I participated in at HBKU was challenging but incredibly rewarding. They allowed me to develop my research skills in a supportive and engaging environment. In addition to conducting research, I was also able to participate in international conferences where I presented my research findings. These conferences also provided me with opportunities to connect with researchers in my field, learn about latest developments and trends, and gain feedback on my research.
