HBKU Faculty and Students Take Part in I AM QF

Faculty, researchers, and students of HBKU gathered with the wider Education City community for the third edition of I AM QF on February 24. HBKU’s contributions as a research university, including collaborative projects and thought leadership, featured throughout the main stage program, including the ‘Strategy Panel Discussion with QF Leadership’ and ‘I AM QF Multiversity Talks’. The event created opportunities to reflect on new ways to interconnect, collaborate, and partner as part of Qatar Foundation (QF)’s multiversity vision for impact.

Featuring in the Student Showcase, the College of Public Policy (CPP)’s Master of Public Policy student Sarah Assami had the chance to present her project to HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation and Chairperson of the HBKU Board of Trustees. Her research focuses on achieving plastic neutrality for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM, working with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. Recognizing that achieving this transformation requires a broad range of actors within multiple levels of society, Assami presents a systems approach to change. Supported by her supervisor, Dr. Logan Cochrane, Associate Professor at CPP, Assami’s focus on putting policy into practice and working with non-governmental organizations, government agencies, schools, and universities to support Qatar’s goals to achieve sustainability targets exemplifies multiversity. It also demonstrates how HBKU’s MPP graduates can serve their communities in diverse ways.
