CPP Professor Analyzes Land Question and Legal Pluralism in Africa

Dr. Logan Cochrane, associate professor at the College of Public Policy (CPP), has published an analysis on The Land Question and Legal Pluralism in Africa: Recent Contributions and Future Work, under the afronomicslaw.org’s Book Symposium IX.

His analysis examines scholarly works on the issue of land in Africa, and particularly the academic and practice-oriented contributions of a recent volume published by the African Development Bank, Rethinking Land Reform in Africa: New Ideas, Opportunities and Challenges. In his discussion, Dr. Logan analyzes each of its chapters to demonstrate how the book reveals the political, ideological, historical, and economic, demographical, and socio-cultural implications of land reforms in Africa. He identifies the critical questions it raises and recommends the need for the discourse to include environmental issues, especially considering the implication of climate change on food security and the conservation of biodiversity.
