CPP’s Dr. Cochrane Chosen to Join UN’s Knowledge Network of African Experts

Associate professor at Qatar’s Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Public Policy (CPP), Dr. Logan Cochrane, has been appointed by the United Nations as a member of the newly constituted Knowledge Network of African Experts.

The network comes under the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA), and Dr. Cochrane is currently leading a sub-group focusing on food security who are preparing a policy brief as a contribution to the forthcoming UN Summit on famine prevention.

Dr. Cochrane’s extensive research portfolio includes food security, climate change, social justice, and governance. Among the many countries he has worked in over the past 15 years are Benin, DR Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, South Africa, and Uganda.

The network was launched by the UN to provide foresight analysis and advisory support on the security, economic, social, environmental, political, humanitarian, and human rights issues affecting the planet’s second-largest continent.
