Shari'a and Sovereignty in Christian-Muslim Debates

14Feb2019

Distinguished Lecturer Series

The relationship between Shari'a and political sovereignty has posed one of the most intriguing questions in Islamic political thought over the past few centuries. This debate is the subject of frequent critique by Christian theologians and secular theorists.

The lecture will provide a framework to explore this theological debate beyond the confines of ardent secularism or state-centric Shari'a.

Speaker:

Dr. Joshua Ralston, Lecturer in Muslim-Christian Relations, The University of Edinburgh
The event will be held in English, with simultaneous Arabic interpretations.
