Islam has a 1,000-year history in Russia, and yet little is known about it. Muslims constitute 8-12 percent of the Russian population, but remain largely in obscurity. Much in the same vein, works on Islam and Islamic Studies in Russian languages do not make the headlines.
The seminar, taking place on the sidelines of the Doha International Book Fair 2018, will endeavor to highlight Russian scholarship on Islam, both by Muslims and non-Muslims.
Speakers:
- Dr. Farid Asadullin, Leading Research Fellow, Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Science
- Prof. Vladimir Bobrovinikov, Department of History, School of Arts and Humanities, National Research University High School of Economic, ST. Petersburg
The seminar will be held in Arabic and English; simultaneous translation will be available.
