Between Madrasah and the Academy: Studying Islam in the East versus the West

Studying the religion of Islam as a faith-based discipline to draw one closer to God versus studying Islam as an academic discipline in a secular context are very different paradigms. Each one has its benefits and challenges.

This lecture, brought to you in collaboration with the Minaretein Center, specifically targets youth, student, and alumni communities. Hear from Dr. Yasir Qadhi on his own experiences between a prestigious seminary as University of Madinah and a Western academic institution as Yale University, and how they shaped him as an individual. In addition, Dr. Qadhi will discuss specific constructive criticisms that can be used to better each of the two paradigms.

Discussions will be held in English
