السيرة الذاتية

Dr Kenza  Maher joined Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI)  in January 2015 as a Scientist at  Energy Science and Technology Group. She has more than 10 years of experience on Energy Storage research field. Before joining QEERI, Dr Maher was Research Fellow and Project Leader at Joint Future Mobility Research Lab with BMW Group and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her research focused on safety evaluation and diagnostics of  BMW electric cars’ batteries to overcome the hazard of thermal runaway in cars.

Dr Maher received her PhD from Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco in January 2011. Her PhD focused on development of new phosphate and oxides materials for high energy lithium-ion batteries. During her PhD, she was a Guest Researcher at Angström Laboratory, Department of Material Chemistry, Uppsala University, Sweden.

After her PhD, she joined Energy Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore as Research Fellow. She worked on development of a new method to determine the battery state of charge (SOC) and state of health (SOH) based on its thermodynamics properties.

After that she moved to TUM CREATE LTd, Singapore.  Her research focused on study of batteries’ thermodynamics and kinetics properties

الاهتمامات البحثية

My research focuses on development of safe and reliabe materials for Li-ion and Na-ion batteries and evaluation of battery safety (of lithium, sodium and sulfur battery) by performing in-situ thermodynamics studies by isothermal calorimetry and conducting abuse tests at cell level by adiabatic calorimetry  and at components level by thermogravimetry-differential scanning calorimetry to overcome the hazard of thermal runaway in battery.
