Prof. Georgios Papaioannou is a digital humanist, museologist, educator, and archaeologist specializing in museology and digital cultural heritage. His interdisciplinary background and research span information technology, archaeology, cultural heritage, classics, and education. He has taught at universities across Europe, the Middle East, the United States, and Australia, including Hamad Bin Khalifa University and UCL Qatar. His work examines artificial intelligence and big data for museums, digital documentation, CIDOC CRM, immersive technologies, and museum education. He founded the international conference on museum big data and has led or contributed to more than 30 international research projects. His archaeological and heritage work in the Mediterranean and Arab world includes excavations and development of museums and exhibitions, notably the museum at the lowest place on earth in Jordan.
