Biography
Mohamed Nounou is a Professor at the College of Science and Engineering. He received the B.S. degree (Magna Cum Laude) from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX in 1995 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, in 1997 and 2000, respectively. Before joining HBKU, he was a Professor at Texas A&M University at Qatar for 18 years. He also worked for the industry at PDF Solutions, a consulting company in San Jose, California.
His research interests are in the area of process systems engineering with a particular emphasis on data-driven techniques for improved process operations. He is the author of a book and numerous book chapters and papers in prestigious journals and conferences. He also served on the editorial boards of several journals and the organizing committees for various conferences. He is currently an Associate Editor for the Network Modeling Analysis in Health Informatics and Bioinformatics journal.
Dr. Nounou is also a dedicated teacher. He received both the College-Level and University-Level Distinguished Achievement Awards in Teaching at Texas A&M University in 2011 and 2012, respectively, and the Faculty Excellence Award in 2013. He is a senior member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
