Biography
Dr. Harris Rabbani is an Assistant Professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Science and Engineering. He received his Master's in Petroleum Engineering in 2014 and completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester in 2018.
Dr. Rabbani is an expert in multiphase flow through porous media, with key research interests in CO2 storage, hydrogen storage, enhanced oil recovery, and soil remediation. His research focuses on addressing critical challenges in energy and environmental engineering, particularly in carbon sequestration and sustainable energy solutions. To do so, Dr. Rabbani employs a combination of numerical simulations and experimental work using state-of-the-art facilities.
Dr. Rabbani has established the MicroFluidFlow lab, which houses advanced experimental equipment, including a microfluidics fabrication setup, HPTP (High Pressure, High Temperature) microfluidics rig, confocal microscopy, and a fluorescence microscope. This lab enables cutting-edge research in fluid dynamics at the micro-scale.
He has authored numerous publications in leading scientific journals such as PNAS, JCIS, and Nature Scientific Reports, and has presented his work at prestigious conferences, including SPE, Interpore, and EAGE. His innovative work has also led to a patent awarded by the USPTO for advancements in multiphase flow through porous media.
