Biography
Dr. Muhammad Bilal Akram Dastagir is a postdoctoral researcher with the Quantum Computing Group (QC2) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar. His work spans foundational and applied quantum computing, including strategies to mitigate barren-plateau phenomena in variational quantum algorithms, quantum-assisted AI for time-series and tabular anomaly detection, generative image tasks, and privacy-preserving federated learning. He also develops quantum-enhanced frameworks integrating retrieval-augmented generation and reinforcement learning for large language models.
He earned his PhD in computer science from KAIST, South Korea (2025), on a full scholarship, where he pioneered hybrid quantum–classical deep learning for indoor localization. Prior to his PhD, he served as a manager and cryptography engineer at SUPARCO, Pakistan’s national space agency, specializing in hardware–software co-design using Python and C for secure telemetry systems in space missions like PRSS-1, earning the Chairman’s Service Distinguished Award.
He was selected for the UN-sponsored APSCO satellite navigation training at Beihang University, China, and holds an MSc from the University of Leicester, UK. He actively bridges academia and industry through scalable quantum-AI solutions for cybersecurity and intelligent systems. Dr. Dastagir is a registered electrical engineer with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
