Participants learned how to incorporate personal development tool into their everyday lives
As part of its efforts to promote civic engagement, Student Affairs (SA) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is organizing a mind mapping community class.
Taking place on November 16 and 17, the class will highlight common mind mapping techniques and how they can be incorporated into everyday activities. Participants will be shown how to create their own mind maps before thinking about how they can be used in a number of practical settings. In doing so, the class will learn how to use mind maps to make decisions, organize thoughts, take notes in meetings and from printed material, present important information, and much more besides.
Speaking ahead of the class, Bilal Abdul Sathar, an HBKU alumnus who is helping to organize the session, said: “We enjoy developing community classes, and this will be no exception. Mind mapping techniques are commonly used to enhance learning, understanding and memory, and can be used in work, learning and social settings. Users frequently report that mind mapping leads to clearer thinking, increased confidence and a more focused approach to learning. Other benefits include stronger presentations and more assertive approaches to communication.
“In keeping with other community classes, this event has attracted a diverse mix of participants curious to learn more about how mind mapping can benefit personal development. I am confident the class will be engaged and enthusiastic from beginning to end, and will develop some very interesting mind maps in the process. We hope that they will apply lessons learned outside the classroom.”
