Hamad Bin Khalifa University Researchers and Faculty Named on Global List of Top Scientists

Faculty members and researchers at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) have been named among the top 2 percent of the world’s most-cited scientists on a new global list compiled by Stanford University, USA.

Six faculty from the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) were recognized, namely: Dr. Mounir Hamdi, founding Dean of CSE; Dr. Amine Bermak, founding program coordinator of the Division of Information and Computing Technology and associate dean of CSE; Dr. Muammer Koc, founding professor and program coordinator of the Division of Sustainable Development; Dr. Roberto Di Pietro, professor of the Division of Information and Computing Technology; Dr. Gordon McKay, founding professor of the Division of Sustainable Development; and Dr. Abdesselam Bouzerdoum, professor of the Division of Information and Computing Technology.

Researchers at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, Qatar Biomedical Research Institute, and the Qatar Computing Research Institute were also included on the list. 

The Stanford University team analyzed millions of scientists worldwide, combining several metrics to systematically rank the most influential by scientific field, as measured by citations. The prestigious database has been published in the PLOS Biology journal.
