Master of Public Policy Students Hear From ‘Small State, Big Politics’ Author

Second year students in the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program at the College of Public Policy (CPP) attended a guest lecture by Dr. Mehran Kamrava, director of the Center for International and Regional Studies at Georgetown University Qatar, on September 13.

The talk covered the politics of small states, with a focus on Qatar. The graduate students are part of two Specialization Lab courses offered by CPP, one focusing on social policy and the other on energy and environmental policy. The guest lecture by Dr. Kamrava provided a perspective of international relations which contextualizes domestic and international policy-making.

Dr. Kamrava is the Professor of Government at Georgetown University Qatar. He is the author of numerous journal articles and books, including Qatar: Small State, Big Politics, and most recently, A Concise History of Revolution. He is also the series editor for the 'Contemporary Issues in the Middle East' series from Syracuse University Press, among several others.
