Dr. Villeneueve and the attendees had a thoughtful discussion on the need to localize so-called universal concepts of good governance.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Public Policy (CPP), invited Dr. Jean-Patrick Villeneuve, Associate Professor, Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), to their campus on February 5, 2023, for a seminar on the concept and measurement of governance.

Dr. Villeneuve gave an overview of his various research interests and projects, which span transparency, anti-corruption, and accountability. His insights sparked debate among attendees, generating a thoughtful discussion on the need to “localize” so-called universal concepts of good governance.

Aside from his duties at USI, Dr. Villeneuve is Director of the Institute of Communication and Public Policy, Head of the GRIP (Public Integrity Research Group), and Director of Governance Stream of the Middle East Mediterranean Summer Summit (MEM).
