Five students honored for meaningful contributions to the community, with three more receiving special mentions

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Student Affairs office recognized eight students who dedicated themselves to becoming socially responsible community members through involvement in extra-curricular activities at this year’s Student Life Awards.

The annual event commemorates exemplary students who have demonstrated service to the local community, promoted engagement and vibrancy within HBKU student life, exhibited outstanding leadership, or represented the university with distinction in sports and other competitions.

Commending the students’ dedication and leadership, Dr. Maryam Hamad Al Mannai, Vice President of Student Affairs, said: “HBKU’s student body is home to individuals who strive to positively impact the people around them by playing active roles in society. The Student Life Awards are designed to commemorate those who go above and beyond, and underline how the Office of Student Affairs works to nurture an environment that inspires its students to serve and engage with their community.”

This year’s award recipients are:

  • Community Service Award: Zainab Jan, College of Health and Life Sciences
  • Community Engagement Award: Qatari Identity Club
  • Leadership Award: Saad Hameed, College of Science and Engineering
  • Competition Award: Sai Surag Lingampalli, College of Science and Engineering
  • Sports Award: Mohammad Tajik, College of Science and Engineering

In addition to the main awards, the following students received Special Mentions for their meaningful initiatives:

  • Hamza Mazyad, College of Science and Engineering, for his contribution to the HBKU Corner Leadership Challenge.
  • Badria Al Samak, College of Health and Life Sciences, for her work on HBKU’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.
  • Ismail Alrozzi, for organizing the Iftar Meal Distribution Initiative during Ramadan.

The Student Life Awards embody the Office of Student Affairs’ efforts to complement HBKU’s integrated teaching and research environment with opportunities to bolster a mindset of continuous growth and self-development.
